Introduction to Sky Garden
Today I’m visiting a very special place, a place I’ve been trying to visit for a very long time. It’s called the Sky Garden, and it’s here in central London. It’s one of the best places to look at London from above, even better than the Shard, or so I think. And it’s completely free – the only thing you have to do is book about two weeks in advance, otherwise you will definitely not get a spot, because they get booked up super quickly. Arrival and Queue Experience
When you enter the building lobby, you’ll immediately notice the long queue. But don’t worry, it tends to move pretty quickly. Within 15 minutes, I was already upstairs, ready to explore.
First Impressions and Views
The first thing you should do is get out on the balcony and snap some photos. Yup, this is not the time to leave your camera at home. But today, just sit back and enjoy the views for a moment. I think I’m super lucky I visited on such a sunny, beautiful day. And the views are just… oh my god!
Time Limit and Restaurant Options
When you book your free ticket, you only get one hour here, which is kind of enough to take all your photos. But if you’d like to stay longer, you can just book a spot in one of their restaurants. They are kind of pricey, but they’re beautiful, the views are incredible, and it’s definitely an experience.
Dining Options Overview
There are four different restaurants where you can book a table: Fenchurch Restaurant, Darwin Brasserie, City Garden Bar, and Sky Pod Bar. You can book directly through the Sky Garden website, but again, do it well in advance to make sure you get a spot. The restaurants are open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. till 1 a.m., but check their individual pages for exact opening times.
Casual Dining at Sky Pod Bar
If you don’t have a booking, you can still grab a bite at Sky Pod Bar. Throughout the day, they offer drinks, snacks, and sandwiches. But in the evening, it’s all about cocktails, sharing platters, and live music. I can’t wait to check that out on my next visit.
Exploring the Gardens
And if you’re wondering where you find the actual garden bit, it’s right behind me. Yup, there it is. Before your time runs out, don’t forget to take a stroll through the garden and admire all those beautiful, diverse plants.
Indoor Views
Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, the views are just as spectacular inside as they’re out on the balcony, so feel free to just stand there and take it all in.
